Understanding Your Video Link Analytics: The Only 4 Metrics That Matter

TL;DR

To grow your video link earnings, focus on only 4 metrics: (1) Verified Views — non-bot views that count toward payout; (2) eRPM — effective revenue per 1,000 views; (3) Click-Through Rate — how compelling your share text is; (4) Earnings Velocity — dollars earned per link per day. Everything else is noise.

1. Verified Views (not raw clicks)

A raw click is anyone who touched your link. A verified view is a unique human session that actually watched the video and saw the ad. Only verified views count toward earnings. Aim for a verified rate above 60% — anything lower means bot traffic or mis-targeted audiences.

2. eRPM — Effective Revenue per 1,000 Views

eRPM = (Earnings ÷ Verified Views) × 1000. This is the single most important metric because it tells you which links and niches are actually paying. A link with 100 views at $3 eRPM out-earns a link with 500 views at $0.40 eRPM.

3. Click-Through Rate (CTR) on your shares

If you share a link in a Reddit thread that gets 5,000 impressions and 40 clicks, your CTR is 0.8%. Above 2% is excellent. Below 0.5% means your share text or the community wasn't the right fit.

4. Earnings Velocity

Earnings velocity = dollars earned per link per day. A link that earns $0.50 per day for 30 days beats a link that earns $5 in one day and nothing after. Focus on evergreen content that sustains velocity.

Frequently asked questions

Why are my raw clicks higher than my verified views?

Bots, previewer bots (like Slack, iMessage), and duplicate sessions all get filtered out. A ratio around 60–75% verified is healthy.

How often do analytics update?

Verified view counts and earnings update on a delay of a few hours as fraud filters run. Trust the 24-hour rolling number more than the last-15-minutes number.
